Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better known as Ari Lennox, is an American musician and singer from Washington, D.C., who was the first woman to be signed to J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. In October 21st, 2016 she debuted Pho, her first EP for the Dreamville Records label. It was at this point that she first gained notoriety. Shea Butter Baby her debut album was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox first posted music online in 2012. She released her debut album Ariography and debut mixtape in 2013, the mixtape Five Finger Discount. In 2014, Ari Lennox continued to post her music online including her self-released single Bound. The song Sweat it featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes album which dropped on July 21 2015. J. Cole was interested in her talent and wanted to collaborate together with Rihanna. In December 2008, it was announced that Rihanna was contracted with Dreamville Records. She made an appearance on the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II featuring the track Backseat Cozz. In the month of October she dropped her debut EP, Pho. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as being an opener on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017 in which she was accompanied by EarthGang. In 2018, she performed as a guest on two tracks, including EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song as well as Bas's Icarus. Ari Lennox's first album Shea Butter Baby was released on July 16, 2018. The debut single, Whipped Cream of the album was released on the 5th of September, 2018 and featured a an accompanying music video. Then on November 9, she released two additional singles: the 40 Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. On November 13 she then came out with two additional singles, One and Pedigree. One and Pedigree. The singer appeared alongside Cole on The Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby On November 16, and then made the track available in a solo version on her debut album. The track was accompanied by an accompanying music video that debuted on February 20 2019 that surpassed three million views on YouTube within its first seven days. In December of 2018, she was part of the From East Atlanta With Love Tour, which featured 6LACK.
